It was dark, but we played!

All day yesterday it snowed. A lot. By the time I got home from work, it was, as usual, dark. But with all that snow out in the yard, we just had to get out there and play!

Where they are standing is an area that I cleared outside of the door so that there was some space to at least get out. Hiker decided that eating the snow was the best thing.  She stood by the snowbank and licked and licked.

The pack was extremely excited to have all that fluffy snow to play in.  I measured the snow on their fort and there was nine and a half inches! It must be sturdier than I thought since all that snow hasn't collapsed it.

For Brook, all that snow meant that she was wading through snow that was almost up to her chin but that certainly did not stop her from having a great time.  All of the pack were running and jumping and having a fantastic time and within minutes there were footprints everywhere!

Callie was thrilled to play Jolly Ball in the snow and stopped frequently to roll around and jump into the deep snow. The lighting is poor but you can see how excited she was.

I'm looking forward to Sunday afternoon when we'll be able to get out for longer and in the daylight, to play in the snow.  News reports are that this is the most snow we've had at one time in the past five years.

Monday's forecast is warmer temperatures (5C/41F) and rain.

  1. Dogs + snow = fun! Callie is so cute. :-) We have an inch or two on the ground this morning and more on the way. A friend in Massachusetts has over two feet at her place and it's still coming down. Love the snow!

    1. Callie would be happiest if there was a minimum of two of snow year round. I've been watching the weather forecasts and the storm track, the eastern part of Canada and the USA are getting it really bad. It's fun to play in but I still prefer summer!

  2. Love the tail thumping shake after Callie's snow angel! The snow is in drifts up to my waist here, the Mr. has to snow blow a few trails for Maggie & Duke. It looks like the snow might be letting up....:)

    1. You on the eat coast certainly got more than we did! We're not laughing at you though since we'll be out that way for next winter.

Do Maggie and Duke like the snow trails? The Mr should make it into a maze for them to chase each other around!

    2. They love hopping down the bunny trails! We did a small loop today after clearing the driveway & the neighbors', the maze is a good idea if the snow wasn't so darn deep!

Love it! What a great little video clip. And good to see the rest of the gang out enjoying it, too. I like how they all have fun in their own ways.

I wonder how Silas would like a little snow? LOL.

    1. I think that Silas would have fun (with his "cousin" Breeze!) but he might be cold since he doesn't have much hair - he'd need a coat! Watching the dogs play in the snow is so fun!

  4. We got hit with a lot of snow too! (We were right in the center of the blizzard!) So far the collies haven't enjoyed the snow much. It's too deep, so they can't play!

    1. Too deep? Callie would tell them to jump in! Last night the crazy pack were jumping into the snowbanks created after shoveling. You probably got more than we did though.

  5. Nothing makes you smile so much as watching dogs having a good time. The pack looks like they're having such fun. (We just interrupted this comment to go watch a report on Nemo on the Morning News...WOW!)

    1. You are so right! Even though I was tired (and a wee bit cranky) after driving to and from work in the heavy snow and it was cold and I was tired after a long day, watching them made me laugh a lot as it always does. A few doggie hugs and kisses helped too!

With only nine or so inches of snow we are better off than those east of us..

  6. Looks like the pack had a great time out! Beamer was beside himself when he saw how much snow we got yesterday.

I hope you got home from work okay last night. Going down to Toronto from uptown was a nightmare.

    1. They had lots of fun but not enough time! We're looking forward to Sunday afternoon after work when we;ll have time and daylight to play in.

    1. It's all about them! Even though it was a long day and playing outside was about the last thing I felt like doing...there I was.

  9. The snow looks like a blast. I always think of Hades and Braylon were to be suddenly faced with snow they'd be total wimps and refuse to go outside, but who knows.

    1. Who knows, they might think it's the best since you can play with it, jump in it, roll on it and eat it too!

    1. It makes dealing with the snow easier when I watch how much they enjoy it. Of course, they don't have to shovel it or drive in it!

Riley LOVES snow! She doesn't go so far to roll around in it, but she does like to eat it. Looks like the pack had a wonderful time playing! How fun.

    1. The way they act, I wonder if they think that I can control when we get snow and how much! Riley should try the rolling around, it sure seems like fun.
