Sharing

At our home, every effort is made to ensure all are treated equally and fairly. With a pack of dogs, it is important for them to share.

Molly seems to have taken the sharing idea a bit farther than others.

Arthur didn't seem to mind Molly sharing her Nylabone while he was napping.

Then, Arthur and Alice decided that the dogs should share the big dog bed.

Molly was initially a little confused but then decided that the bed was big enough for all three of them.

Trail wasn't as hesitant,as soon as Molly and Alice got up, he lay down and was asleep with barely a glance at Arthur who got a little squished but didn't seem bothered by it.

One more aspect of sharing has occurred in our barn.

This cat showed up a couple of weeks ago and the three feral cats are sharing their accommodations and food with him.  He is extremely friendly, not a typical barn cat. Yes, he can stay.

We are expecting another winter storm on Sunday with "significant snowfall amounts" according to the latest forecast.

This is what Brook thinks of another winter storm.

A Hoarder?

We may have a hoarder in our home.  There hasn't been any official diagnosis but one definition found online indicated "...the need to collect and keep items..."  Hmmm.  Makes me wonder.

Could she be a hoarder?

Yes, that is our Hiker.  She did something similar when she was first adopted. Back then, Hiker would pick up mittens, shoes and slippers and put them in a pile.  She has started again and now takes everything into her crate. There is never any damage to anything and she has no problem with the items being taken away and put back where they belong.

It becomes a game where I will follow her, lightly stomp my feet and demand to know, "where are my slippers?!"  Hiker gets excited and we play a soft game of tug until she gives up and rolls over for a tummy rub.

Well, hoarder or not, we love her and her slightly odd behaviour.  Besides, its always easy to find the slippers and mittens that may go missing.

Two more storms

The weather here has taken a dramatic turn for the worse.  The snow storms have arrived and we received 60 cm/23.5 inches of snow earlier this week and approximately 25 cm/9.8 inches overnight into this morning.  The earlier storm generated a blizzard warning and it certainly was a blizzard. This was the view from our kitchen window:

The night before this blizzard, Elsie the cat was acting a little unsettled and went into Trail's crate. She has never done that before. Maybe she knew that something was coming.

Arthur was very interested in seeing the snow during today's storm:

On a storm day, when the human element is staying home and the weather is too bad to be outside playing, the only thing to do is get settled on the couch.

Today's storm cleared late morning and then there was sunshine.
