Doing Good...For An Old Girl

As our blog post title states, she is doing good...for an old girl.  No, no, this isn't a post written by somebody about the acdMom!  It's all about Callie.

Callie was in to the vet for her annual check-up, also known as her annual poke and prod.  At one point, when the vet was listening to her heart he asked if she had ever had any heart problems. Well, as you can imagine, that made mine about stop.  I answered no, she has never had any issues.  It turns out that her heart rate was 72 and the vet said he usually has dogs with heart rates around 80-90. Nothing to worry about, she must be more relaxed than most. (Really? As she stands there with a muzzle on.)

By the time we left, the vet assured me she was fine and that for an older girl, Callie was doing good.

  1. Congrats, Callie! Just keep doing whatever you're doing. It is obviously working.

  2. She seems to be doing great. From what I have heard, cattle dogs are some of the longest-lived dogs there are! I think the record for dog longevity was set by a heeler of age 27.

  3. I've always loved the way you tell stories, you know that! And that was brilliantly put and I laughed out loud at your comment about Callie standing there being Callie.

  5. Callie, we are so happy to read that you are doing great for an older gal. Mom was just a little scared for a second, but you were surprisingly relaxed there. Thanks for sharing the lovely photo. Have a great day.
