Comfortable?

Our most recent post was a picture of how blind Brook likes to lay on the floor in front of the couch in the kitchen. (yes, we have a couch in our kitchen!) After posting that photo, I took this photo of our deaf boy Trail...

This is a very typical position for him to sleep. He wedges his head between the kitchen table leg and the leg of the chair.  Often times, it seems as though he must be compressing his neck but for him, it must be comfortable.

Interesting thing about this is that one of Bill's snuggling positions is to have an arm lightly around his neck. As in a loose "choke-hold".  That was discovered one day when I reached around him and he leaned into my arm. It is now something that he enjoys.  This from a dog is very resistant to having a collar put on or taken off.

Us humans...what do we know about comfort?!

  1. Daisy and Kendra used to sleep in strange positions like that. They looks so uncomfortable, but they seems to enjoy it. We think sleeping on the peeps feet make it extra comfy.

  2. How interesting! You'd think they'd have similar senses to us... but then, we don't sniff butts instinctively either.

  3. These two posts are hysterical! Sometimes you just have to wonder what they're thinking. I think this is what I love most about dogs--that they are just so darn bizarre!

  4. So funny. And interesting that he resists the collar but likes the "choke hold." Must make him feel safe and secure. What a sweetie!

  5. Trail just wants to be touching his person and that is all that matters, lol. Dogs do not seem to mind sleeping in what we think of as odd or uncomfortable positions. It sounds like Bill feels comforted with your arm around his neck. To each his own! I had a foster dog who slept upside down in his crate much like Brook's position. I'm glad Hiker is feeling better and hope to hear good news soon.
