Bill - Happy 4th Gotcha Day!

It was just over four years ago that I contacted an Australian Cattle Dog rescue and inquired about adoption.  A few months later, Bill joined our home.

Originally a stray from North Carolina, Bill was approximately two years old with an unknown history other than a broken rear leg and a scar on his throat.  That broken rear leg has been operated on three times, most recently last year when the plate and screws became infected and had to be removed.

Bill is a very lovable and gentle boy who just wants to be close.  He is serious and thrives on routine. He rarely plays with toys (maybe never learned how?), is a champion cuddler and proof that a rescue with an unknown history can be the most lovable dog!

Happy 4th gotcha day Bill, it's been a wonderful four years and we're looking forward to many, many more!

  1. What a beautiful photo of Bill! He sounds like a total sweetheart. So glad he found a loving home with you. Wrigs paid no attention to toys when we first got him.

    1. Does Wrigs play with toys now? Our Bill is a really big time, major sucky boy!

    2. Yes, Wrigs figured out what toys were for after a while. When we first got him, he was heartworm positive, so the fact that he didn't want to play (maybe didn't know how) worked out for the best since we had to keep him quiet during the treatment. When the treatment was over and he was given the okay to resume normal activity, a friend sent him a huge carton full of toys to celebrate, and he had a ball with them. Once he had figured out toys and play, it was a great way for us to bond and for Wrigs to gain confidence.

  3. Happy Gotcha Day, Bill! He has been through a lot from the sound of things. Hopefully he can stay off the operating table in the future and soak up a lot more cuddling!

    1. Thanks! I think sometimes he knows how handsome he is, the way he poses for pictures.

I guess he is just a wise old soul that doesn't have time for toys! ;)

    1. Yes, sometimes I think that he's been through so much (and probably a lot we don't know)that he's old beyond his years.

  8. Happy Gotcha Day, Bill. You are such a lucky dog, to have landed in a heavenly pack like yours. It sounds like your pack is equally lucky, because you are so very special.

I love that photo of you!
