Visiting the big city.

First, we would like to thank everyone for their kind words regarding the passing of our dude Oscar.  We really appreciate your comments.

On Tuesday, I was off to the big city, about a forty-five minute drive away.  As often happens, the day began with the question of who to take. Only one could accompany me since I had an appointment at the bank and I don't want to annoy anyone by strolling in with more than one. During breakfast I debated and finally decided to take Azule, our deaf girl.

Before we went to the bank, we detoured to a Pet Smart store that was closing and having a clearout sale of 50% off everything.  The sale had been on for a week already but I still found some good bargains and Azule had a great time meeting other dogs and getting fussed over by the staff.

Here's what we got:

Then we were off to the bank.

Azule enjoyed the big window in our bank lady's office.

There were treats for Azule and the empty container smelled really yummy!

Even though these pictures a bit blurry, I promised our bank lady that she would be featured.  Those are her toes in the first picture and her leg in the second!

Then it got boring for Azule as important banking business was conducted.  Sigh.

When we got home, it was time to play.  Gerrard the wonder kitty was thrilled to have a new toy (even though it's pink).

Callie really likes the ball and I am hoping it lasts.  There was only one, if there had been more I would have bought a couple and a bigger size would have been nice. But, hey, for $2.00 I'm not complaining!

Callie: "Throw it! Throw it!"
The ball bounces really well and once we determine the durability of it, we might see about getting a bigger one.  I like the fact that it's quiet as it bounces, an important factor in a fetch toy for those mornings when we are out playing at 4:15 a.m. Now, if we could get one that glows in the dark, we'd be all set!

    1. So far, two of the bones have vanished. When we do laundry tomorrow I think we'll find them!

    1. It'd be my luck that I'd forget to expose it to the light and then it wouldn't glow!

I was outside last night in the dark with the flashlight looking for the ball so we'd have it for this morning. Callie didn't seem to care because she found her frisbee.

  3. Ok, I am definitely moving there. You can take your dog with you to the bank???? I can count on one hand the number of places that allow dogs inside here. I am green with envy! What a perk and how fun for Azule - even though she did indeed look pretty bored in that one pic. ;)

I love it when they have cool finds in those clearance bins. I almost hope one of our Petsmart stores closes down so I can score some 50% off Nylabones though - what a sweet deal!!!

  4. Oh who are you trying to fool - we have too much cold weather and snow! But seriously, if I was to show up at the bank without a dog, I highly doubt I'd be allowed in and I know for sure my bank lady would be mad. I always mix it up and take a different one and "Auntie M" keeps treats in her desk for them.

    1. Actually, I really do prefer colder weather - as long as I am bundled up properly I love it! Although I admit, it would definitely take me a while to get used to it. Honestly, I can't stand the summers here and one of these days I am going to move! When I am cold I can always add layers, but in the summer, there's really only so much you can remove before being arrested. ;)

  5. What a haul! We'd love to find stuff at 50% off! Can't believe you got to go INTO the bank....or any business for that matter. Lucky dogs...enjoy your new toys.

We were sorry to read about Oscar. It's always hard to lose a member of the pack.

    1. You should check with your bank see if you can go in! For us, it's not just one branch, it's a few different ones and there are treats at all of them. YUM!

  6. We have a ball that my dog who died about 9 years ago loved. It's a red ball with a flashing light inside it that is activated by motion. She adored that ball (I assume that it has some kind of battery in it), and it has lasted for years and years and years! Just an idea for your 4:15 AM outings!

Cute photos of the bored Azule stretched out on the floor!

We have the same ball. Still going strong! Silas lost most of his baby teeth playing with our little one.

As for the bigger size, I'll say this: on the bigger size, the holes are also bigger. Silas gets his lower jaw through the hole, and then I can't get the ball back. I have the same problem with his big orange Planet Dog ball. I wish the toy people would think that through--he's actually gotten "stuck" on the Planet Dog ball that way.

    1. That's something I didn't think of. With our range of sizes of dogs, a bigger one wouldn't be such a good idea. Thanks for sharing that!

  8. What a cool bank you have that allows dogs (other than service dogs) inside! Looks like you scored some fun toys.

    1. I didn't realize that not everybody takes their dog(s) to the bank! I've been doing that for years and years. Just lucky I guess!

  9. We have a big green JW hol-ee roller. They're great! Super durable. Most JW Toys are and I swear by them. Beamer has a huge collection of them building up.

Azule is such a good girl, sitting (sort of) quietly at the bank :)
