I think we have critters. Not sure yet what type of critters but I think there are some around. The first clue was this:
The unidentified critters didn't do this. It was one of the dogs. We've seen this type of thing before. A couple of years ago, Hiker pulled off some of the lattice on a different part of the deck and caught a small rabbit. (I'll spare you the details unless you ask)
The second clue that there be critters was this hole that was dug under the pile of posts for the fence renovation.
Azule dug that hole.
Not to be confused with this hole.
Hiker then tried a different view on the holes.
For some reason, it was only blind Hiker and deaf Azule that were interested in the elusive critters.
They never did find any critters but it certainly wasn't from lack of trying.
You would think/hope that wild critters would be smart enough to stay away from a yard that houses a pack of 7 dogs. I guess not :P
ReplyDeleteI can only imagine what Hiker did to the bunny. Beamer chases rodents on our walks all the time and the thought of him catching up to one scares me.
It seems to be young critters that hang around our yard for some reason. Too young to know better I suppose! The bunny? It was deceased and she swallowed it whole.
DeleteHmmmm...I bet there be critters in them there wood piles!! ;-) Perhaps it's the Easter Bunny?!! Hehehe, let's hope he doesn't have the same ending as your previous bunny! Have fun stalking guys!
ReplyDeleteWe're hoping (at least some of us are!) that the critters will move along and not get captured. There are still the birds and squirrels to chase.
DeleteKeep on guard. Those critters might just come back. Just because the human can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there!
ReplyDeleteXXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy
You are so right! It is good to know that the canines are keeping track of these things.
DeleteGood luck finding those critters! Lemme know if I can come by and help!
ReplyDeleteSure, come on over and we'll have another pool party too!
DeleteThey know far better than we do. :-) We have chipmunks. I swear those chipmunks know that Delilah wants a piece of them! LOL They vex her to no end. She lays in front of the patio doors and waits until she sees them, then goes tearing out like nobody's business.
ReplyDeleteThe dogs looked cute, following the other to make sure nothing was missed.
It does make me wonder sometimes too if the critters know. We have squirrels that will run along the fence and then sit and watch the dogs getting all excited because they can't reach.
DeleteOh boy! They sure want whatever is under there! We are always dealing with critter invasions. It's one of the many pitfalls of living in a very old, funky house. We just finished a project involving using hardware cloth and flashing to try to critter-proof one area. Pack rats, squirrels, chipmunks, mice, and skunks are among the troublemakers here. Skunks have gotten under our bedroom floor a few times and let loose. Needless to say, that was unpleasant. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYikes! The only thing we have ever had in the house was a couple of mice, then I think word got out that there was a cat. I could not even begin to imagine how horrible a skunk under the floor would be. It was bad enough when Bill got sprayed in the mouth once and the lingering smell.
DeletePack rats have damaged the wiring in a few of our cars over the years. The entire town seems to be an ideal environment for them. This year, the skunks have zeroed in on our neighbors who live above us on the mountain. Apparently they've worked out a way to get into their crawl space and have been cutting loose nightly. It's not a pleasant way to be woken up. :-)
DeleteHowdy Mates. Whatever it is obviously smells fabulous. Keep on digging mates. Good job. No worries, and love, Stella and Rory P.S. If you need a paw, give us a call ok?
ReplyDeleteIf you're in the area, be sure and let us know! We could use your big paws Rory and Stella could help sniff them out.
DeleteOh dear - poor bunny! One time, Blueberry and I found a rabbit that had it's innards exposed (it was dead, obviously) and thankfully, she didn't try to eat it.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to find out what the critter is!
As of today, I am wondering if the critters (and family?) have moved on. Nobody is interested in the underside of the deck or the pile of fencing material. Maybe the critters got scared and moved to a less crowded neighborhood.
