Another project.

Not all of the dogs are always allowed to participate in projects around the house. Using an electrical saw and trying to keep track of three blind dogs at the same time is multi tasking that is more risk taking.

It was a nice warm and sunny day so the blind trio went outside to explore the yard while the dangerous activities were being done in the house.

Since Azule is deaf, the noise of the saw doesn't bother her and she was always laying around getting covered in sawdust.  Of course Forest was there too, not wanting to miss anything. He is curious about everything. Quite the change from the severely neglected and terrified of everything pup that he was when we adopted him just over a year ago.

Azule is very much a typical Australian Cattle Dog in her desire to be with her person at all times.  It is a common trait of the breed to be a "velcro" dog.  She will always look for me (a bonus when off leash in the wilderness!) and loves to be close.  She isn't demanding attention, she is just there.  A little wave in her direction or a quick pat and she wiggles with happiness.  When I was painting in the hall, I sat on the floor and within seconds, Azule was on my lap.

Bill wandered through the kitchen to see what was happening but being a bit nervous of anything that is not routine, he preferred to stay in the living room or outside with the blind trio.

"I'm not sure about this mess."

At one point, Forest helped by suggesting to Azule that she stay out of the way.

"Azule, we can't go over there right now."

Once part of the floor was installed, Forest couldn't wait to check it out.

"Ohhh...this is nice!"

The renovations are almost done and we'll soon have more time to get out and wander the wilderness.

  1. I love Forest instructing Azule! That's a great caption!

Poor Bill looks very concerned. :)

Please tell Blueberry that since she is supposedly part cattle dog she should be more velcro-y so I can let her off leash! ;)

    1. Dear Blueberry - Your human adores you and wants for you to have everything! Part of that is the fun and freedom of being off leash. You need to try and ...ah, heck....I dunno how to tell you to stay close and listen. Just do it! : )

Hope you are able to get these projects finished! I haven't been able to paint without having Finn step in the tray!

    1. Nobody has stepped in the paint, the blind ones just stick their noses in it and then I get all paranoid that they might ingest it by licking their noses!

  3. Talk about snapping a picture at the perfect time. Love the picture of Forest and Azule. Forest's expression is so serious, too.

The new floors are lookin' good!

    1. Could you imagine how crazy it would be if all of you were velcro dogs? Or how crazy I would be if mine all were?!

    1. I sometimes think how much easier it would be to do some things alone, but of course, that wouldn't be any fun!

  8. I don't think I could handle my dogs being around renovations, seeing they are both considered 'large' dogs, it would just make things seem more cramped. Glad you all can manage. :-)

    1. Believe me, sometimes with four or five of the pack "helping" a particular area seems really small. Oh well, we manage and love being together.

We like that floor! And Riley is a velcro dog too. She can't be too far away from me. When I'm gone out of town, she follows her Grandma around the house. When we painted our downstairs, Riley frequently had paint on her from being too close to me while painting. I eventually had to lock her out! Poor girl.

    1. As you may have seen, we had most pack members with paint on them recently. I do love the velcroness (is that a word?!) and we all love being together.

  10. Wrigs has a similar attitude to Bill's when it comes to work around the house (especially noisy work). He'll often retreat outside and lie down close to the front gate, but facing the house so he can keep eyes and ears on things. I love the way you've figured out how to work around everyone and still get projects completed. Glad you're almost finished so you can get out in the wilderness and have some fun soon.

    1. Bill likes the couch so he can watch. Yes, we'll be wandering soon and the weather is improving too.
